When I sent out my customer feedback survey at the beginning of the year, I had no idea how many well-thought-out and sincere responses I would receive. Not all of them were positive, and believe me – I appreciate those just as much as the glowing reviews telling me how the sun revolves around me and the stars and moon shine just for me. 😉 My sole purpose in sending the survey was to find ways to better serve my fans and customers and grow my business in a way that would be most beneficial for their memory-keeping needs. I committed to taking all of that data into account as I made future decisions, and I have! I’ve spent the last month reviewing every last detail of each and every comment, and have come up with the following changes/improvements to how things go around here. Some have already been quietly put into action, and others you won’t see for a while, but I promise – they’re all coming, and I’m so thankful for the time and thought put into your answers to help shape what I’m doing here.. 🙂
Lately I’ve been doing a lot of more subtle, neutral colored products, and you asked LOUD AND CLEAR for MORE COLOR! I’m excited to get “back to my roots” as far as color is concerned. It’s always been something I’ve loved working with, and I didn’t even realize how much I love & miss a good bold color swatch until I started designing Cake Smash a few weeks ago and seeing all that vibrant color on the screen just made me so happy! YAY!! 😀
I’ve mentioned before that themed kits can be a bit intimidating to me, but I SO understand the need for them to document ALL of our stories. I won’t be doing all theme all the time, but I’m definitely making an effort to include more of these specific designs in my product line. Specific requests included sports (of ALL kinds), birthday, science, military, sibling relationships, travel, roller derby, American Girl, holidays, teachers, coffee, Nerf, cruises, teens, dance, dogs, gardening, favorite authors, outdoors, homeschooling, band, exercise, cats, international, certain movie characters, etc.. As you can see, there are a LOT of requests out there. I know I can’t say yes to all of them, but I’m definitely keeping a running list as I work on my upcoming designs.
When asking about what kind of content you’d like to see on the blog, I was surprised to learn how many of you want to see MY own efforts at memory keeping. Of course when I really think about it, those are some of the posts I most look forward to from other designers as well, so.. This is going to be a win/win. I’m going to work on carving out some time for myself to actually scrapbook each month, then I’ll come here to share it with you. Woohoo!! Thanks for the extra push to get my own memories onto paper – peer pressure for the win! <fist bump>
Another question whose answer was loud and clear was how you felt about the price of my pocket cards. After learning that a vast majority of you feel I price my cards too high, I’ve done some evaluating and decided to (a) lower the price of the cards, or (b) offer more cards in a pack at the current price. Understanding how you guys value and use (or don’t use) the cards really helped to inform my decision. I actually really stress about pricing of products to make sure it’s fair to you, and also to me, so it wasn’t a decision I made lightly. I really appreciate those of you who took time in the comments to explain WHY you answered the way you did to this question, because that really helped my inform my decision. You rock.. 😀
A few years ago, I did a couple challenges here on my blog each month. The first was a featured product challenge, and the other was a template challenge, each offering a $10 coupon as their prize. After quite a long period of very low participation, I opted to discontinue the challenges. Imagine my surprise, then, when over 80% of you asked to see those exact challenges on the blog.. As they say – ask and you shall receive… Be on the lookout for some new challenges coming your way in March. Now it’s up to YOU to participate! <wink, wink>
This is actually something I’ve been wanting to do more of, and just haven’t made it priority. They won’t be regular, and they won’t be huge, but I do plan on adding a few little offerings into my workflow here and there. (See my Cake Smash Add-On Newsletter for the first of my new freebies.)
Blog tutorials hold such a special place in my digi-loving heart.. When I think back to the days of my first diving into digi back in 2008, I was all over the tutorials and soaking up every little bit of knowledge and information I could. Due to my other commitments and demand for my time right now, I’m just not able to produce the kind of quality tutorials you guys deserve. However! I have an AMAZING creative team, and they have stepped up to the plate and will be serving you all kind of delicious tutorial goodness very soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that.. 😀
It turns out, everyone wants MORE “stuff” to scrap with.. And who can blame them, really? 😉 I’ve learned you love it when I provide alternate colors for elements, meaning you don’t have to deal with recoloring yourself, but you also just want MORE in general. Including more pixels – there were several requests that I make my elements a bit larger, so I’ve already started doing that – woohoo! Also, as part of the survey, I included an image of some tags I’ve recently designed for Fancy Pants, and a whopping 76% of you are hoping I include more of those types of embellishments in my designs. That is definitely something I look forward to doing. 🙂 I’ve been working on that with my last few releases since the survey went out, as well as some additional changes to the embellishments I offer, which brings me to number nine..
Along with the foray into more subdued color palettes I’ve recently been taken, I’ve also begun morphing to a much more simplistic design style, with less photographed/extracted embellishments and more stickers, stamps and flat elements. This is a bit ironic, since my own scrapbooking style definitely leans more toward the clustery goodness allowed by gobs of photographed pieces, so it is kind of odd that I’ve moved away from that with my designing.. I never said I wasn’t crazy, though, so…. 😉 I’ll definitely keep the sticker vibe I’ve got going, but I’m also planning on getting back to a more “full” design offering as well.
As I mentioned on Instagram a while back, the most surprising thing I learned through this survey was how much I LOVE hearing from you – the good, the bad, the ugly.. I love being in this messy life with you, and I love working together to get our memories documented. I committed then to finding more ways to connect with you on a regular basis, so I’m going a bit out on a limb here.. I’ve started a new Facebook group for people who want to hang with my team and me, share layouts, ask questions, make requests.. You know – all that fun stuff that’s so much easier to quickly post on social media than dealing with an email or a forum or anything formal like that. For those of you who aren’t on Facebook or would rather not add one more group to your feed – don’t worry! Nothing will happen here that you can’t ALSO learn about or gain access to through other channels – my newsletter, blog, etc. This is just a quick and easy way for like-minded memory keeping folk to keep up with each other.. (I’m not going to lie, though – mostly I want to hear what’s going on in YOUR life, and see what YOU are scrapbooking, so this is totally selfish on my part, but hopefully you’ll humor me..) 😉
Those of you who took the survey know I asked for additional comments, suggestions, requests or brownie recipes at the end. Would you believe people actually gave me some AWESOME new recipes?!?! I haven’t been able to try all of these, but I wanted to link a few here for you.. With it being Valentine’s day and all that, I’d totally LOVE to actually make these for you, but they haven’t invented taste-o-vision, yet, so I guess it’s up to you.. But do it! You definitely deserve to treat yourself! 😉 <3
