When I first started designing back in 2008, I thought for days and days about what I should call my brand. I wanted something creative but not cliche, something memorable and reflective of what my designs were all about. I posted a poll on my family blog asking friends for their advice.. Some of the choices were: Digital Retreat, Sleepless Obsession, Pea Soup (?!), Digital Intervention (again, ?!), and finally Stolen Moments. My reasoning for the latter was that it was a reflection on the time we spend actually scrapbooking, as well as the moments of time captured by our photographs. It was also during the stolen moments of my life as a new mom that I was doing the designing. Obviously this last one made the cut – thankfully! – and my digital identity was born.
Flash forward six and a half years, and my “little hobby” has turned into a full time (+) job and a legitimate source of income for my family. I love it more now than I ever have and am so grateful for the amazing opportunities I’ve been afforded on this crazy adventure.
Over the past several years I’ve had the faint tinge of regret that I didn’t just stick with my own name for my brand – at the time it was FAR too boring – but I was too afraid of all the work that would go into re-branding. Well, somehow I got the courage to face all that work head-on and I am so pleased to announce that Stolen Moments is now, simply, Amber LaBau Designs.
I’m celebrating with a 30% off sale at The Lilypad (look for my name near the TOP of the designer list) now thru Jan. 5. My incredibly supportive husband and I have spent countless hours (my bedtime has ranged from 2:30a-5:30a) these past couple of weeks re-previewing and uploading and updating my entire catalog and I’m so pleased with how bright, shiny and clean it looks.. Go take a peek, grab a little something for yourself, then mark your calendars for a chat on Jan. 6 to celebrate with me.
Until next time…
